Harley davidson,where do i send my 80 shovelhead to be refurbed?

i have a 1980 FLT shovelhead with 65k on it and i want to send the engine to be refurbed or rebuilt. Who does A good job on these? And should i go thru the trans. also?

look for a good independant shop,the dealerships wont touch it. if it still shifts good dont worry about the trans.

You'll have to bring it to a "mom and pop" repair shop. No dealer will touch anything over 10 years old. My advice would be to ask around. There are thousands of bikes like yours on the road that need service. You shouldn't have that hard of a time finding a good shop. I'd love to do it for you. I just graduated from WyoTech for that exact thing.

I would take it to a small family run shop. Do some searching around your town and see where the bikers take their bikes to if they decide not to work on them. I guarantee there are shops that have a reputation for honest work at a fair price.
