  1. If you are talking about the newer Harley's, Yes. Dyna refers to the rubber isolation frame style. Before that was the FXR style frame which was the first vibration isolation frame (rubber mounted motors) for the Superglides and Low Riders. Before that was the FX frame which came out in 72 or 73  I believe and had no vibration isolation. I think it was basically a Electraglide frame. You had to be a dedicated Harley Rider to put up the numb hands. It was so bad that you had to look at your hands to see if you still had hands at the end of your arms. And mirrors were useless.

  2. The Low Rider was Harley's first attempt at a custom bike, but they are pretty much the same bike (they're in the same family).  Dyna low rider has shorter shocks, so it sits lower.  I believe the Dyna is the oly low rider HD makes.

  3. Perhaps I can make this a little clearer.  The current FXDL Low Rider is based on the Dyna Glide frame, and has been since 1993.  Prior to that the Low Rider was called the FXRS.  The FXR frame was the rubbermount cruiser then  (By the way, the current FLH, ElectraGlide frame is a modified version of the the FXR frame).  Prior to that, the solid engine mount FX frame was used for the LowRider.  Originally called the FXS, the FXSB was simply the belt final drive version.  There were other versions of the Low Rider, but these are the basic ones.

  4. The guy above me is wrong, P***k-face or whatever your name is.  The Low Rider is either FXDL or FXDLI, not FXSB.  There isn't a Dyna that starts with FXS, those are called Softails.  There isn't even a Softail called the FXSB, there is a FXSTB (Night Train or Springer Bad Boy) and a FXSTBI, but no FXSB.

To answer the original question, yes, the Low Rider is a subcategory of the Dyna family.

  5. Blastabu got it mostly right. HD came uot with the FXE( Superglide) back in the 70s, maybe a year later they came out with the Lowrider (FXR?), which was just a fancy Superglide. Later they changed the suspension and added rubber mount engines.(DYNAs). Some people liked the older suspension better than the newer ones. The name Lowrider has nothing to do with how the bike sets.

You better check and see what FXSB stands for , Phuckin

  6. yep. same bike. low rider is one of the dyna models.

  7. The last guy who says he have 50 years of HD.

You are wrong!!!!! The Lowrider is a FXSB.

Not what you said it was. I should know. Had a 1985. Not the FXR frame ethier.

1985 was the last year of a the old frame. Had a 4 speed trans, Evo motor, Belt drive, with kicker. Also electric start.

  8. Pretty Much the same bike however you will fine repair parts ans asserociors are going to be different and price for parts a bit higher
