Harman kardon reveivers?

why do harman/kardon receivers always have less wattage per output as opposed to another receiver in the same price range such as sony, pioneer, etc?

  1. Because Harmon/Kardon still accurately rates the power of their equipment. Brands like Sony are notorious for inflating the wattage ratings of their equipment meaning that you are not getting the true watts that sony says it has. Basically 40 H/K watts = 80 Sony watts and so-on. But H/K makes great audio equipment and would recommend them over Sony/Pioneer any day.
