Harold's Cross hosts first round of the Xmas Party Free Flight Give Away

Harold’s Cross hosted the first round of the Xmas Party Free Flight Give Away Monday. The top three hounds from six heats earned spots in the semi-final, which will be run next Monday. Each of the heats was worth 75 Euros and was run over 525 yards.
Heat one
Surpasing Beauty surpassed 7-4 race favourite, Darcys Cross, and won the first heat of the day by 3 lengths with a time of 29.34 seconds. Behind Cross in third place by 5½ lengths was Waste Slumdog. Both Beauty and Slumdog came in with 5-2 odds.
Finishing in fourth was Page Three Blue, and in fifth was Pancho Black. Sixth place went to Graces Teddy, who was replacing Rahillion Lad in the first trap.
Heat two
Fear Na Gcon bested 2-1 joint favourites, Court Ruler and Rathmuch Dolly, in the second heat. Gcon took first over Court by 3½ lengths with a time of 29.21. A length behind Court in third was Yeah Diva, who managed to stay ahead of Rathmuck to earn a spot
in the second round.
Dolly finished well back of Diva, but did stay ahead of fifth place finisher, Saunders Honcho, and sixth place finisher, Carrickmines Jet.
Heat three
Cnocbride Ceoil replaced Back To Stay in the third heat, and used the opportunity to secure a spot in the second round with a second place finish. Oulartleighclara took top spot by only a neck over Ceoil with a time of 29.44. In third place was Moorlaugh
Kerry, 2 lengths behind Ceoil.
Fourth place went to Shift On Nathan, who beat out the 7-4 race favourite, Lukessherry, who did beat Keadeen Lark to avoid last place.
Heat four
Savealittle took the fourth heat by 2½ lengths over Perro De Presa with a time of 29.30. Both hounds beat 5-4 joint favourites Uncle Des and Warhead. Des took third place to earn another chance in the second round while Warhead finished in fifth and was
eliminated.
In fourth was Molloys Rhythm and in last place was Imaal Diamond.
Heat five
All Tied Up’s time of 29.02 was the second fastest of the heats and earned her a first place finish in the fifth heat. She bested 6-4 joint favourite, Merseydide Queen, by 1½ lengths. Mild And Soft took third, 4½ lengths behind Queen.
Bye Bye Bertie said goodbye to the second round with his fourth place finish, and the other joint favourite, Grimley, took fifth spot. Coming in last was Kerrydale Omoa.
Heat six
The final heat saw the 6-4 race favourite, Jonas Girl, finish in last place, and race winner Imall Captain run the quickest time of the heats, a mark of 28.86. He won the race by a huge 8½ lengths over Ballybarney Boy. The last spot in the second round went
to Dynamite Rocky, who finished just a ½ length back of Ballybarney in third.
Fourth place went to Maybeiwill and fifth to Late Again, who was certainly late, but still managed to beat Jonas.
