The Chief Executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Haroon Lorgat, has stressed that the cricket governing bodies of all the cricketing nations (Cricket Boards) should devise a plan to protect their players from fatigue because of the hectic schedule of cricket tournaments around the year.
Talking on the matter he said, "We always are concerned and try to monitor the volume of cricket. We talk about it all the time. We engage with each of the member boards, so it's a very topical issue for us. What we are obviously challenged by is the bilateral arrangements that members make among themselves."
The ICC chief executive admitted that the workload on the players has indeed reached its optimum level. However, he reiterated that the teams and Boards needed to rotate their players so that they would have enough breaks within an ongoing tournament.

Players now get less time to recuperate, which ultimately results in injuries. Almost all teams had to leave a few players out of this year’s World Cup squad because of injuries.
Many players have criticized the hectic schedule of cricket fixtures just before the 2011 World Cup. According to the players, they are physically and mentally fatigued before the global event.
The English captain, Andrew Strauss has also criticized the heavy schedule because his side spent almost three months playing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 to prepare for the ICC World Cup 2011.

"If you play 35-odd ODIs in a year and 10 test matches and 45 days of IPL and Champions League, then all of a sudden you hear there's a warm-up game it's a very difficult scenario to mentally prepare yourself for the game," he said.
The 2011, World Cup is set to begin from the 19th of February and will last till April 2nd. This year the mega event is being jointly hosted by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and Bangladesh.
