Haroon Lorgat says Pakistan's performance is good for International Cricket – Cricket News Update
The International Cricket Council's (ICC) Chief Executive, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719, heaped praise on Pakistan for the way they have kept their mark in the sport despite all the odds being stacked against them.
Pakistan cricket has gone through a difficult phase with teams refusing to visit the country and the spot fixing fiasco causing three regular members of the squad being sidelined.
Pakistanis always play exciting cricket and Lorgat considers watching the Men in Green in action a treat for the fans and a good chance to promote the game.
Lorgat said, “Pakistan team is a joy to watch. There are a lot of supporters around the globe and they make many people happy. So when Pakistan performs it is good for international cricket.”
Pakistan has not hosted a series at their home soil ever since the attack on the Sri Lankan team took place, back in March 2009. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) has been like a second home for them, as most of Pakistan’s home series
are now played here.
Lorgat divulged that ICC tried their level best to keep Pakistan in the game, and said, “We were very particular that Pakistan continued to play international cricket though the first choice was always on their home soil. When
that was not possible we wanted to make sure that they play cricket and if on neutral venues so be it but we want that they must play cricket. It would have been most unfortunate if they would have been sitting at home and not playing.”
The newly appointed Chairman of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Chief Executive has assured
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397 of their full support in this regard.
The Men in Green are currently hosting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, where they will play two Tests and
three ODI’s.
