International Cricket Council's (ICC) Chief Executive, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haroon-Lorgat-c61719, has unravelled his plan to step down from the post at the completion of his extended office term in June 2012. He also shared that he is quite satisfied with the work he has done so far
for the development of the game.
Lorgat took oath to his office in 2008 and got a one-year extension in 2010. As his tenure is going to end by the mid of the next year, ICC is about to advertise the vacancy to appoint a suitable successor.
Talking to the media today, the CE told that he sought extension just due to work for the integrity of the game and resolve some core issues like spot-fixing scam of the Pakistani trio. He claimed to have successfully organised the ICC World Cup 2011 and
formulated a new policy for the uplift of International cricket.
Lorgat stated, “My sense is to step aside after having delivered a successful ICC Cricket World Cup and the new global ICC strategy which is now in place. In 2010, I felt there was much work for me to complete during 2011 which included protecting the integrity
of the game and restoring the reputation and image of the ICC.”
The head of the global cricket governing body expressed distress over the postponement of the ICC Test Championship; however, he hoped that all three formats of the game will co-exist peacefully in future.
“Although disappointed that the Test World Championship will not be played in 2013, I am confident that with the strategic restructures we have undertaken, all three formats can be sustained at international level,” stated the CE.
Lorgat paid thanks to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625’s commercial partners, sponsors and the entire internal staff, whose support he considered essential.
Lorgat has been an undisputed personality throughout his stay in the ICC office. He has done some good things to restore the tainted image of the top body. As he has left with a few more months, the chief is keen to take some key measures in the best interest
of cricket, which is confronted with a number of challenges at the moment.
