Haroon Rasheed confident about Pakistan’s chances in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2012 – Cricket News Update

taking on Afghanistan in the opening match.

In preparation of the illustrious tournament, Pakistan played a three-match series against Australia recently, outclassing the home team by two games to one.

While talking to Pakpassion, the former cricketer from Karachi expressed that his side is equally strong in all departments of the game, possessing some quality batsmen and talented bowlers. Haroon claims that the boys have
acclimatised to the Australian conditions but made it clear that his side cannot afford to be complacent, taking into account the strength of some the other teams as well.
“The best part of the current Pakistan U19 side is their all-round ability. We have good fast bowlers and spinners, and depth in the batting,” the former batsman expressed. “However, although a very good squad, obviously the aim is
to translate ability on paper to tangible results - you have to perform and play well in order to win matches. So far the boys have adapted to the conditions in Australia very quickly.”
Historically, Pakistani cricketers are not known for the fielding abilities and the senior team’s lacklustre approach is often criticised. However, the Manager of the junior side believes that the boys are brilliant in this department

“The fielding has been superb, particularly in the second match which included two run outs inside the 30-yard circle, coupled with some quality ground fielding and catching,” he added.
