Harrassment through email...?

okay so i have written about it before ... basic gist...

getting emails threatening me and my baby...

my details used to create the email address that these emails have come from...

the police have told me that they can only do something if i can get the ip address of the person... and that it is not fraud because they have only used my first and middle name not my name in full...

why wont they do it this is harrassment and defimation and they want me to do their dirty work...

any ideas?

In order to investigate a crime, the police must first establish jurisdiction. This can not be done without the IP address.

The FBI has federal jurisdiction and has a web site for reporting internet crimes. You can report it at www.ic3.gov

In the meantime, all you have to do is not open the emails.
