Harris English continues his run at the Crowne Plaza Invitational
Harris English carded an even-par 70 in the second round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational to tie for the sixth place on the leaderboard while entering the final two rounds of the event at the Colonial Country Club.
English, a rookie on the PGA Tour, complemented his first round performance of five-under par 65 when he went two-under for the round through the front nine of the course.
However, three consecutive bogeys starting from the 12th hole spoiled his chances of getting close to the leader, Jason Dufner and settled six-strokes behind him in the end.
According to golf commentators, the English golfer needs consistency in his performance, especially in his putting if he wants to register a win on the PGA Tour.
He hit 15 greens in regulation on Friday, but needed 33 putts that can never be enough to record low scores on any course around the world.
Right from beginning of the season, he has not been able to show consistent performances, which has greatly affected his cause of a win in his rookie season.
During the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, he went into lead after recording a course record of 10-under par 62 in the second round followed by a 69 on Thursday.
However, he did not manage to maintain his lead and faltered in the very next round to register a score of one-over par 73.
In the end, he had to settle for tied for the 19th position with a tournament score of 16-under par 272.
Overall, he has played 14 events so far on the PGA Tour and succeeded in making the cut 11 times. However, he has not been able to record top-10 finishes except one time when he shared the eighth spot in the RBC Heritage.
The golf analysts believe that he can still make a good run in the final two rounds to remain in contention for the top position in the event.
However, he will have to focus on his putting, which may create some difference between getting close and winning the tournament, especially on the PGA Tour.
