Harris English wins the British Open Qualifier
Harris English won the title of the British Open qualifier, as he shot a 17-under 123 in the two-day event,
According to the sources, English will now play the tournament in July.
The American was the most impressive player of the event. He started the tournament at par and ended at par. He amazed the spectators till the end of the day, at the Gleneagles Country Club in USA.
In the first round, he made six consecutive birdies from the 3rd hole to 8th hole. He grabbed the leading position on the front nine holes. Then on the back nine holes, he shot two more birdies and shot six pars as well.
He was bogey-free in the first round and finished on the top. He was passionate and motivated for the lead and continued his superb performance.
In the second round, he made three birdies on the front nine and four more birdies on the back nine holes of the course.
For making 15 birdies and for playing a bogey-free event, he won the title and defeated Greg Owen by four strokes.
English has also created a new record for hitting 60 in the first round. The last record was of 62, by Fred Couples and now English successfully broke it.
"I was just relaxed and had some fun," English said. "I'm hitting it close. I made eagle on the second hole from about 4 feet and it went from there. I thought par was 71 and I thought I made that (birdie on his final hole) to shoot 61. But it was 60. That's
a good deal".
After creating a new record and for hitting two bogey-free rounds, English is planning to further imporve his performance and reach among the famous world leaders.
"It's a long round and I'll try to keep it going," English said. "I want to hit fairways and put myself in good position. You still have to play aggressive. There are so many good players out here, anybody could shoot in the 50s or 60s."
Now, he will be playing the British Open in July. The tournament is tough and competitive. In order to be on the top of the leaderboard, English has to be impressive throughout the four-day event.
