Harris persistent despite worsening knee

The hero of the third test, Ryan Harris has stated that he was ‘surprised’ how well he has been performing despite a chronic knee problem that degenerates his knee with every ball he delivers. The rather stocky fast bowler has made his debut for Australia
rather late at the age of 31, however he has promised to make the most of this opportunity. He understands that if his knee gets worse it would take him almost 12 months to recuperate which would effectively mark the end of his career.
He made the most of his opportunity at WACA, where he claimed 6 wickets in the second innings to steer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to a brilliant victory. Ryan Harris is currently battling from a degenerative problem in his right knee which would require corrective surgery.
"If I was 21 I'd get it done but I'm not, I'm 31 and it's a 12-month recovery, so for me to have that I think would be the end of my career. Basically the cartilage on the outside of my right knee is going, basically there's not much left and I'm eating
through it every time I pound into the crease. It's just a management thing and I'm going well at the moment."
Ryan Harris underwent an arthroscopic surgery earlier in the year and suffered great soreness in his knee when he made a comeback in first – class cricket in October. He admits that he had doubts whether he would even be able to play four five day games
ever again.
He said that he was ecstatic at playing the Ashes for Australia, and couldn’t believe that he was preparing for the next Test on Boxing Day at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium.
Coming in to this series he said that he was hoping to be a part of the fourth test on boxing day, however given the state of his knee throughout the summer he said he wasn’t sure if he would be part of any cricket in the summer.
"After I played my first (Sheffield) Shield game back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854, I had massive doubts about whether I could even play four-day cricket, it just blew up big-time. So at the moment it's a great feeling, obviously to level the series to get it back to 1-1
and to obviously take six wickets in an Ashes Test is a great feeling,” Ryan said.
He also admitted that he was nervous going into the fourth test of Melbourne on boxing day. He said that it would be an amazing feeling if he gets picked for the Melbourne Test.
