http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 still deems himself unworthy of a spot in Aussie Test XI – Cricket News Update
Despite an impressive 4-wicket haul on the first day of Australia’s tour match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RJ-Harris-c2330 is convinced that he is still undeserving of a place in the Aussie Test XI.
“In a tour game, it's always good to get wickets but I still feel Patto, Sidds and Hilf had a great summer,” Harris said.
“I only got a game (in the final two home Tests against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750) because Patto got injured and he bowled well again today.”
Harris joined fellow pacers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197 in the Windies for a tour match, during which he outshone the others with a 4 for 23 off 13 overs on the first day on April 2 at the Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Despite this, the 32-year-old is adamant that his chances of playing against the Windies in a 3-match Test series, starting April 7 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, are slim. Reiterating that he only got a chance to play against India because Pattinson
had to bow out owing to a foot injury, Harris pointed out that his summer had not been particularly remarkable.
After claiming 6 wickets in the last two matches of the series against India, Harris was included in the squad for the Commonwealth Bank series, but dropped after he proved too expensive (3 for 171 in four innings). In comparison, Pattinson took 11 wickets
during the Tests series against India, while Siddle took 23, and Hilfenhaus bagged an impressive 27 scalps.
“I still think that they'll start but, obviously, I want to put as much pressure on them as I can and, by taking some wickets, I think I've done that,” he said.
“If I play, I play. We've got to pick the best three quicks to bowl the West Indies out and, whatever it takes to win Test matches, that's what I want."
Teammate Siddle, however, claimed Harris was being too hasty in ruling himself out so quick. He pointed out that the right-arm pacer had been particularly remarkable during Australia’s series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 last year, when he claimed 11 wickets at an
average of 14.54.
