Harry Dunlop’s charge Sir Patrick Moore prevails in the Prix Amber Rama at Compiegne
The Harry Dunlop trained, Sir Patrick Moore, has several options opening up to him since he recently bagged a massive victory in France.
The son of Astronomer Royal, out of mare America Nova, was paired with rider Christophe Soumillon in the Prix Amber Rama (Conditions) at Compiegne on 12th
June, 2012, where he handled the heavy surface of the track incredibly well and finished 2 lengths before the race favourite, Kamran, who was ridden by jockey, Olivier Peslier.
Harry Dunlop appreciated the effort his runner put in, and gave a shout-out to the jockey as well with this comment:
“Christophe (Soumillon) gave him a lovely ride. He virtually made the running throughout. There is a little bit of a hill to the finish and he timed it to stretch the rest of the field and won going away by two and a half lengths.”
This was the second start of the career for the two-year-old, but he demonstrated superior racing skill in his maiden as well.
Jockey Hayley Turner guided him to victory in the Hildon Maiden Stakes at Newbury on 18th
May, 2012, where he finished half-length before the Mick Channon trained Pay Freeze, over the six furlong course.
Pleased with his performances, the trainer stated to the press that:
"He won first time out at Newbury and he's by Astronomer Royal (stallion based in France). I bought him basically to come back to France to try to win some premiums and some prize money as well."
The grey colt has bigger victories lined up for him, and with his incredible form, he is ready to tackle any obstacle that comes his way.

Chances are that the young runner will compete at Newmarket in July, where he will consider the July Stakes and the Superlative Stakes at Headquarters.
The trainer explained to the press that he would like Sir Patrick Moore to win some French premiums, and based on his pedigree, he can perform well on this kind of track.

He emphasised that racing in France was profitable but if given a chance the connections “would very much like to run him in England as well if we can.
