Anyone else pissed off that the next movie (Half- Blooded Prince ) ,

is being delayed from November 21st this year to July 17th next summer .

Now the movie Twilight will open on that date instead .

I'm mad , I wanted to see it !

Does anyone know exactly why they switched the date ?

I heard it had something to with :

- writers strike

- special effects in film

- and simpliy the movie "Twilight "

but i have no idea ...

  1. Basically it appears the answer to the change in release dates is mostly a business decision....in other words.....money.  They feel it will make more for them if it is released next summer.  As a result of the writer's strike, there are no big blockbusters scheduled for next summer to compete with the Harry Potter movie.  There may have been a couple of other small problems but nothing to justify the moving of the release date all the way to July.

Oh, a note to =], twilight was scheduled for a December release however, with the change to the Harry Potter release date, it has been moved to November 21st to take advantage of the Thanksgiving weekend.

  2. Meh,

    i don't really care,

its kind of a really stupid movie anyways.

  3. yeah thats annoying

just put it into one movie like the ones before

  4. im pissed off about it too! i always go and see the harry potter films at the cinema and i was looking forward to it! cant belive i have to wait nearly a whole year.

i think they delayed it because twilight was released on the same date and they wanted to pull in more money and ratings at the box office. because a hype about this twilight film.

  5. i didnt know it got moved. but yeahh that really sucks. twilight comes out december 12th tho, not november 21st

  6. i had no idea ....this sucks big time !

  7. Who cares? It's going to be a crappy film anyway.

  8. I hate to break all twilight fans hearts, but harry's got nothing to fear from that movie.  The reason is the first one and ties in with the release of The Dark Knight.  They didn't expect it to go over so well, it has made the studio oodles and oodles.  They don't *NEED* Harry this year.

They will next year though, with the strike, there are no big blockbusters sheduled for the summer, their big season.  So instead of having incrediable Dark Knight + Harry year followed by nothing, they elected to go Dark Knight this year, Harry next.

If they were so convinced of Twlight "killing" Harry, it would be being moved.....

Does it suck? yea, but what ya gonna do about it?  Boycott and not see the movie, yea, that helps =/  Kinda stuck in a hard place, but hey....

  9. The strike had no effect on the Harry Potter movie, the guy who announced the delay has also commented that the movie itself has finished filming, it's on schedule and is currently going through Post -production.

The biggest reason seems to be money. By doing a summer release, the studio hopes to make more money despite the fact that November has always been a better month for the movies.

There is also a few ideas going around that the delay will also allow them to do more with the Harry Potter theme park at Orlando due open late next year, so it allows them to hype the park along with the movie.

  10. July 2009. I AM OUTRAGED. don't get me wrong, i lvoe twilight.. but ithink i love harry poter MORE. Its been here longer, stolen my heart for longer I AM SUPER MAADDDD!!!!!!!

  11. Main reason:

In July (summer time) more people will go to the movies and pay the ticket$ than in November.
