Question:

Harry Potter flash back.?

I was rereading the first Harry Potter book and I came to a part that made me smile ( I did that a lot while reading it).

Well anyway I'll write out the part I am talking about (page 221)

Could Snape possibly know they'd found out about the Sorcerer's Stone? Harry didn't see how he could- yet he sometimes had the horrible feeling that Snape could read minds.

hahahaha. I found this hilarious when I read this. Because as it turns out he CAN read minds, and he is actually quite good at it. But when people first started reading the Harry Potters they didn't know that about our good friend Severus Snape. And people pretty much forgot about those two little sentences in the 1st book as they went more and more into the series. It puts a huge grin on my face just thinking that J.K. Rowling knew all this stuff about her characters before she explained it to us 5 books later, keeping us all in the dark but giving us little clues that people just read over.

Rereading leads to a lot of things like this.

But even without rereading the 5th book I can still see how badly Warner Bros screwed up on the movie (leaving a whole bunch of important stuff out.)

So....tell me what you think.

  1. ahh... that happened to me as well, when I reread the series!! I simply love how we seem to over-look such little things because they seem insignificant...but THEY ARENT!!

I had that same feeling when I reread the fourth book. When Harry returns from the Graveyard, and he is telling Dumbledore evrything that Happened. When he came to the part, about Voldermort taking his blood, Harry thought he saw Dumbledore smile fleetingly, but then thought he must have imagined it because there seemed to be no reason at all!!

BUT there was a reason.... Dumbledore knew that Voldermort taking Harry's Blood and his mothers protection, would mean something in the end, when They's have to face each other!!

I love the way Rowling gives us such subtle clues, but we miss them because we thinik they dont contribute to the storyline at the moment!!

And YES, WB, definately left way to much things out!!! And then they still have the audacity to postpone the release date! THE CHEEK!

  2. I agree.  I feel at some points in the movie they shot scenes exactly as I had seen them in my imagination.  However at other parts I felt the need to ask "Did you even read the book".  When I reread my Harry Potter books every once in a while I find clues like that too.  It amazes me how J.K. Rowling created such a detailed world that to some of us seems so real.

    Happy book reading!

    : )

  3. I know what you mean.  JK rowling was verrrrry clever in the writing of the entire series.  There are heaps of hints as you pointed out.  Another one I noticed was in the half blood prince where it says something like 'mrs weasley gave Lupin a dirty look as though it was his fault she was getting Fleur as a daughter in law instead of Tonks' when it was actually because Mrs Weasley knew that Tonks was in love with Lupin!  I agree it is very interesting and that the fifth film was messed up.  I don't know how they can possibly do the last film as sirius didn't give Harry the mirror.

  4. hey!!! you're abso-bloody-lutly right, i never thought about that but i guess looking back at all those little details that never made sense they finally did in DH

  5. Isn't mind reading kind of a thing that you notice? Like in the 5th book, Harry surely felt when Snape was in his mind. But that is really insightful =]

  6. I agree,

and the movie producers and screen writers leave a ton of stuff out.

  7. I know exactly what you mean! while re-reading the books i find many clues and such that lead to the revealing of crazy things later on!- for example:

In the beginning of number 5 when harry is explaining to his aunt and uncle about dementers and petunia says that lily was talking to that 'horrible boy' about them- harry assumes that she is talking about his parents but really it is a clue towards the relationship snape and lily had!

This just shows the immense complexity of j.k. rowling's plot!

  8. Snape CAN read minds.  Have you read the whole series, or is this your first time?  I'm not going to give anything away lol:) except that Snape CAN read minds, which ends up very important in future books.

  9. I totally forgot about that! Thanks for reminding me! It was really funny!

  10. Wow I'd forgotten about it! Ingenious. But Rowling is cool that way. There are so many hints and stuff we read about early and decipher later on. Like the Riddle's Diary which turned out to be a hocruxe.

  11. I know!!!! J.K. Rowling is amazing at that. That's one of the things that is so cool about the Deathly Hallows. All those little pieces start to fit in. It all adds up.
