  1. plot. i think that twilight has a better plot but there plots are the same in a weird way in ever book something different happens like a fight or something

character. stephenie meyer gives us a better veiw of who her haracters are as people other then just as characters in a book

and the rest are twilight ALL THE WAY!!!

    twilight rules!!

  2. Well, Harry Potter has more of a complex storyline. J.K. Rowling relates little details from each book with each other, whereas Twilight is... I won't say simple, because it isn't exactly, but it does have a simpler story. Like snowcone said, Harry Potter's characters are all very different. You can always tell whether something is what Ron would say or do or what Hermione would say or do. There aren't many distinguishable features about the Twilight characters, besides their gifts or special powers. Don't get me wrong, they're still different but not different 'enough'. For example, in Breaking Dawn, Jacob and Bella's point of view in Book 1 and Book2 are pretty similar... those who have read it hopefully gets what I mean!

There is more action in Harry Potter than in Twilight. Twilight focuses more on their thoughts and thinking, occasionally having some action/fights but it's not described as much in the series.

Harry Potter has plenty of moral lessons, many of them spoken by Dumbledore. To be honest, I don't remember any 'moral lessons' as such in the Twilight series. Carlisle's character in itself is (in a way) like a moral lesson, how he is so calm and rational and wanting to keep the peace all the time.

Both writers are great at what they do. Meyer focuses mainly on emotion and thought, and Rowling writes in many different genres. JK Rowling writes from more of a third-person view, and Meyer writes from a first-person's point of view, always repeating "I, I, I...".

There also seems to always be a point or a purpose of something in the Harry Potter books, but with the Twilight series, something can go on for a whole chapter and not really have much to do with the plot.

Although I still love Twilight, I enjoyed the Harry Potter series better. There were just some parts of Twilight that bored me, for example, one part was [SPOILER WARNING: DO NOT READ AHEAD IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BREAKING DAWN] in Book 2 of Breaking Dawn, the first chapter "burning". The whole chapter was just describing Bella and the burn she feels inside while she was turning into a vampire, going on for pages and pages. All I'm saying is that it could have been written in a more effective way... I know that may sound bad, but that's just what I felt when I was reading it.

I loved how everything in Harry Potter fitted together, how secrets from the Philosopher's Stone were not told till The Deathly Hallows and how in EVERY SINGLE CHAPTER there would be some twist or climax. There's way more than just one surprise in every book.

  3. I used to be a huge Potter nerd and I used to write fan fiction for it so here I go.

Twilight's plot thickens and takes turns you never expected, whereas Harry Potter you could guess what was going to happen before it even hinted toward what was going to happen.

The character's in Twilight are very much like you or me could be (other then being a vampire or werewolf/shape shifter) I look at Bella for example and she is basically me (I'm not in love with a vampire though).

Harry Potter however, the only person you can actually relate to is Hermione. I don't know I would believe in becoming a vampire more then becoming a famous witch/wizard.

Action, Harry Potter had LOADS of it, but often it felt like too much, Twilight has a clever balance.

Harry Potter's writing style was great, but Twilight's was easier to follow for me. With the Harry Potter books I would get lost a lot and confused.  Twilight never did that to me.

Authors, both female, but very different. I like Stephenie's perspective of it all and how she dreamt it all and saw it all as a movie makes it even more thrilling to read.

My personal thought? Read both, see what you think and your going to have a different oppinion then I did for sure. I prefer Twilight then Potter. Edward is just way more....Well you get me drift.

They might be under different headings of genre, but they are both fantasy and both have similar aspects.

       Twilight forever

       Why?

       Because I'm a fan-pire

  4. Harry Potter has a more intricate plot than Twilight. It's the story of a boy growing up, going to school, etc, and having to fight against a powerful villain as well. Twilight's a romance story between a human and a vampire, trying to make their relationship work. Harry Potter's plot is a lot deeper and has more twists. The plot is also not limited to just one genre. Obviously it's fantasy, but there's some romance, action, adventure, etc, but Twilight's plot just makes it a romance.

The Harry Potter characters are all very different and have their own flaws. There's always focus on their flaws, which makes them seem more believable. The Twilight characters are mostly believable, but they all seem quite similar, in the sense that they are shown as mostly being good at everything, sometimes effortlessly.

Harry Potter definitely has more action. There is very little action in Twilight. Harry Potter always has some confrontation at the end with a villain. There's a war going on later and they are forced to fight for their lives.

Harry Potter and Twilight both say that love conquers all and that it is very important. However, Harry Potter speaks about all kinds of love, especially between friends and family. Twilight is just the love between Edward and Bella, so it's about romantic love. There's also mentions of racism throughout Harry Potter. Voldemort was such a Hitler in the last book, killing and locking up Muggle-borns up in prison, forcing them to register. To stand up for what you believe in was also very important.

Meyer writes with a lot of passion. She always puts emphasis on what the characters are feeling, allowing you to empathise or even sympathise with them. Rowling also manages to do this, but to a lesser extent. Rowling creates an atmosphere to make the scene really come to life in the readers' minds.

The authors themselves are also great people. It's really good to see them connect with their fans the way that they do.

Overall, I like Harry Potter better. I still love Twilight and found both series hard to put down, but I think there's more of a story to tell in Harry Potter and more of a connection with the characters. I like the characters more and can relate to them because of their flaws.
