No, Harry Ramsden's are generally over-priced, and although the fish is good, I don't think the chips are up to the standards of the best "traditional" fish and chip shops.  I don't really think big chains can be the best... there's too much corporate policy going on to really try and meet the needs of the customer!

    You get these competitions every year to see which is the best fish & chip shop in the UK - there's one in Perivale (West London) called Kosta's Fish Bar which has been in the top 10 numerous times - that's one of my favourites.


  2. Nah, go to hull.

    In fact the best fish and chips (for price/quality) I've had are in Glasgow at the Blue Lagoon in St Enoch Square.

    OK, so this might be a bit far to go, Harry Ramsdens are normally a pretty good bet but the local chippy might be great!
