Harry Redknapp: Gareth Bale is staying put
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp says Gareth Bale will stay at the club despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
Reports have emerged in the media this week that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is preparing a bid for Bale, which will be made during the January transfer window.
However, the Spurs boss has moved quickly to rubbish the rumours. Redknapp insists that Bale will play a key part in the future of Spurs over the next two or three Premier League seasons.
Bale staying at Tottenham will be very beneficial for the football club. However, the better Bale gets, the more interest from other clubs there is going to be.
Good for Tottenham
Bale has emerged as one of the most effective left sided midfield players in the Premier League. He is also good enough and disciplined enough to play at left back if needed. This makes him a vital squad
player for Tottenham.
Bale's pace makes him an ideal player to use down the left wing. He has just enough skill and trickery to beat most defenders when he's running at full pace in attack. This allows him to get down to the
by-line and cross dangerous balls into the box.
His finishing is superb and he can score goals from all areas of the pitch. He drifts inside from the left while the play is on the other flank. This means he can ghost into the box and pops up as an additional
striker. Defenders will not expect this and Bale can take advantage of the space.
"I read in the papers the other day that Gareth's performances for Spurs have already caught the attention of other teams around the world including Real Madrid and their
manager. Jose certainly knows a player when he sees one. But one thing is for sure. I am not letting Gareth go anywhere.
Tottenham is a team on the up and we are building something," said Redknapp.
As he gets better
As Bale gets better it will become more difficult for Spurs to keep a lid on interest from other teams. This is because the best clubs from all over the world will start
making enquiries about Bale's availability.
There is a good chance that sooner or later a club will come up with a huge offer that Spurs cannot refuse. The job for Spurs is making sure that the club is in a position
where the argument to get Bale to stay is good enough.
"Mourinho can enjoy watching Gareth all he likes but he will be going nowhere.
I do not make comparisons lightly but he and Ashley Cole are quite similar and that can only be a massive compliment to Gareth.
My left-back at Tottenham has come through an amazing 12 months and matured into one of the best players in his position in the world," added Redknapp.
Betting advice
Bale is key to the way Spurs plays football. While he is playing well, back Spurs to win games against any opponent. Bet in play when Bale is not in the side because this
is a slightly safer option.
Bale has shown that he can score quality goals from all areas of the pitch. He's a good bet to score in any game against any team. Take advantage of this in the Champions
League where the odds will be slightly longer on him getting on the score sheet.
Bale also takes a lot of corners and free kicks. This means there is a better chance of him scoring and getting attributed with more assists. This is also something that
can be betted on.
