Harry Redknapp believes helping Tottenham Hotspur reach UEFA quarter-finals is like a dream
The Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp, has revealed that helping the Spurs qualify for the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals is a dream come true for him.
Ever since Redknapp took over the coaching role at White Hart Line in 2008, he has revolutionized the club. The Spurs have evolved into a very competitive club. This is in sharp contrast to just a couple of seasons ago when they were languishing at the bottom under their former coach Juande Ramos, who was later sacked by the club management.
The 64-year-old Redknapp, through his inspiring coaching, has guided the Spurs to one of the top four teams of the 2009-10 English Premier League season. This ultimately secured them a place in this year’s UEFA Champions League competition for the first time in the history of the club. Critics also believe that his strategic transfer moves have provided the Tottenham Hotspurs the right direction. In the 2009 transfer season, he brought in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Bent-c10358 and Didier Zikora go from their club for £10 million and £7.75 million respectively.
Redknapp, who is the former Portsmouth coach, while describing the Champion League Journey as a most memorable event said, “This is an impossible dream that we have achieved so far. Two years ago if you would have said that we would have made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, I would have thought you were crazy.”
The recent successes for Tottenham Hotspur are actually the continuation of their emphatic run of victories in the UEFA Champions league in which they knocked out AC Milan in the last-16 match to qualify for the quarter finals of the tournament. The Journey hasn’t finished yet for Tottenham Hotspur, as they might be facing the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid in the last-eight stage of the tournament.
Tottenham Hotspur have made a dream start to their first ever UEFA champions league competition by beating the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 and Milan. Although, they played a draw against Milan in their latest second leg match, they have qualified for the next round on the basis of an aggregate 1-0 goal difference. Spur, with the help of a Peter Crouch goal, have won their first leg which was an away match against AC Milan at San Siro.
Harry Redknapp without being complacent over their wonderful victory over AC Milan said “I'm not getting too carried away. It's a great night for Tottenham but we are not going to celebrate.”
The Spur’s, who are placed fifth in the English Premier League table with 51 points, are still three points behind the fourth place club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
