Harry Redknapp claims Tottenham Hotspur still not willing to sell Chelsea target Luka Modric
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp claimed the Spurs were still not willing to part ways with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, in case Chelsea tried their luck at the Croatian playmaker again. His warning was not only for his London rivals, but for Manchester United as
well, who had previously expressed interest in the 26-year-old.
Modric was heavily linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window, but Redknapp and club chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Levy held on. Despite bids ranging up to £40 million, Tottenham Hotspur chose to hold on to Modric.
According to Redknapp, that would continue to be the case as the winter transfer window approached. He revealed that even if the Blues had retained their interest in Modric, it was highly unlikely they would be able to get their hands on him.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“We won't be selling our best players or anyone we want to keep in January. We are keeping our best players and if anything we will be adding to the squad not selling.”
The English manager revealed the London side were looking to add to their side instead of selling key players. He insisted they would not weaken over the January transfer window period and would continue building an even stronger squad.
He revealed:
"If one or two positions open up where fringe players want to go then we will look at that but we are not going to sell our best players or anyone we want to keep."
While he may not be willing to sell to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 and defender Alex on the market, Redknapp admitted his interest in signing both along with Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill,
who could be heading for a Reebok Stadium exit in January.
Redknapp continued:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439. I have tried to sign him a few times. He is a good signing for somebody if he leaves. Anelka is a good player as well.”
