Harry Redknapp claims that Manchester United are not the new ‘Invincibles’
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Rednapp has said that Manchester United will not remain unbeaten for the rest of the season.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have yet to be defeated in the current season of the Barclays Premier League, but Spurs manager Harry Redknapp believes that will soon change. The 63-year-old insists that the Red Devils will not become the new invincibles.
‘The Invincibles’ is a term that refers to the Arsenal squad which managed to go undefeated throughout the entire 2003/04 Premier League campaign.
Harry Redknapp insists that Sir Alex’s team does not have what it takes to repeat that phenomenal achievement. He said, “As good as they (Manchester United) are I do not think they are good enough to go through the whole season unbeaten. Even if they win
the Premier League title this season, Arsenal are the original Invincibles and their record is going to stay intact.”
United travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday to face Tottenham in what is arguably the biggest match of the season so far. The Spurs boss went on added that he would love to be the manager to end Manchester United’s unbeaten streak.
Redknapp said, “Of course, I'd love it if it will be my Tottenham team that ends United's unbeaten run on Sunday and we have a chance of doing it. It's not as if United are Barcelona or Real Madrid who are on another planet to everyone else.”
The result of Sunday’s encounter will have huge ramifications for not only both competing teams, but for the rest of the top five as well. If Manchester United manage to win the match, they will open up a huge point gap at the top of the Premier League standings,
making them favourites to regain the title this year.
However, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp claims his side can prevent the Red Devils from taking a decisive lead in the Premier League, saying, “We can bring them down to earth and for the sake of the title race I bet everyone who doesn't support Mancheter
United will be hoping we do.”
