Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he is certain his side are still favourites to finish third on the English Premier League table despite their defeat to Manchester United over the weekend.
The Spurs had gone on to secure a ten point lead over fourth place Arsenal with an impressive run, but two consecutive defeats to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Manchester United have seen that gap close to four points. Their recent losses means Tottenham Hotspur have to work
harder towards the end of the season to ensure they finish at third spot at the end of the season.
There is now more of a possibility of Arsenal catching up with Tottenham Hotspur than before and Harry Redknapp is aware of the fact. The English manager still remained confident of his side maintaining their position on the Premier League above Arsenal
and fifth place Chelsea.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“We're still in pole position. I still fancy us to finish third. That 10-point lead has suddenly become four points and we've got some hard games to come. We go to Everton and we've got Chelsea away.
It's going to be tight but I'd still rather be where we are than Arsenal. We're four points in front and we've still got a big chance.”
While Chelsea will not be able to benefit from defeating Tottenham Hotspur since they are seven points behind the north London side, they could do Arsenal a favour. The Spurs face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in their upcoming fixtures in the English Premier League.
Redknapp knows just how important the upcoming games are and he reflected on the loss to Manchester United on Sunday. According to the English manager his side had done well against the Red Devils but were unfortunate to lose out on a decent result due to
goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 and Ashley Young.
He revealed:
“We played so well first half and to come in 1-0 down, it was unbelievable, really. We dominated the game, did absolutely everything I asked them to do.
All over the park, I felt we dominated the game. Then we start the second half in exactly the same fashion.”
