Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has claimed he does not believe Gareth Bale will be leaving the club in summer transfer window.
A newspaper claimed a fee had been agreed between Tottenham Hotspur and La Liga giants Barcelona for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 in the summer transfer window. The fee was reported to be 40 million Euros, something denied by
Redknapp.
The rumours started when Bale admitted he would not turn down a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and claiming he wanted to play UEFA Champions League next season. However, Redknapp has attempted to put an end to the rumours, saying there was no way Gareth Bale would be
leaving White Hart Lane.
Redknapp said while speaking to reporters:
“I don't know anything about [the story linking Bale with Barcelona]. I wouldn't think there is the slightest bit of truth in that. Not a chance, I wouldn't have thought.”
It has been suggested that Bale will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur for certain in the summer if the Spurs fail to secure UEFA Champions League football next season. The London side are currently at fourth place on the table, just one point behind third place
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
With just one game remaining this season, Tottenham Hotspur have very slim chances of realizing their dream of Champions League football next season. However, Redknapp denied that was the case. He claimed the star winger would remain at White Hart Lane regardless
of their Champions League status.
He revealed:
“That idea gets a bit over-hyped. When Gareth came to Tottenham, they weren't in the Champions League. When http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 came here, they were nowhere near.
He didn't come here because they were in the Champions League, he came here because they were a good club, on decent money and had a chance to play in the Premier League.”
The Spurs manager failed to be let down by the thought that his side’s season would be ruined by a finish less than third, claiming fourth spot would also be a good achievement.
Redknapp said:
“If we can finish third it would be great. But if we finish fourth it would still be a great achievement.”
