Harry Redknapp given a blank cheque for January transfer window
Harry Redknapp has revealed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been pushing him to sign new players in January.
The move comes in the wake of a stellar year for Spurs which saw the team move up from promising prospects to genuine title contenders. Levy has given his manager the freedom to bring in whichever players he deems necessary to take the London club to their
first major trophy in more than 20 years.
However, the Spurs boss has expressed his reluctance in adding to his already bloated squad. Speaking on his plans for the January transfer window, Redknapp said, “The owner would like me in all honesty to go and spend his money and buy somebody who could
make the difference. But I don't know where that player is. I know where they are but they're not for sale - we can't go and buy the people that you'd put your life on. Anybody whose got anybody who's real top class, they don't want to sell them at this stage
of the season. We're not in the situation where we need to panic buy. Unless it's somebody who's going to make a difference to the team then we really wouldn't bother.”
Since Harry Redknapp took over at the helm in November of 2008, things have changed drastically for Tottenham. The team which was so used to fighting against relegation suddenly found itself fighting for a place in the Champions League. This season, Spurs
find themselves in a race for the Barclays Premier League title as well. It is a remarkable achievement which firmly cements Redknapp’s place in the club’s Hall of Fame.
Tottenham have the biggest squad in the league. It is widely believed that Harry Redknapp will be selling rather than buying in the upcoming transfer window.
There is one player the Spurs boss has expressed interest in signing though. Redknapp revealed his sensational plans to bring http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432 on loan to Tottenham until the start of the MLS season in March. It remains to be seen whether his plans come to fruition.
However, Tottenham’s activities in the January transfer window will be watched very closely by their title rivals.
