Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed he will be attending the UEFA Champions League final and said he hoped for Bayern Munich to win against Chelsea.
If http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 go on to win the Champions League final against Bayern Munich, they automatically take up Tottenham Hotspur’s place for next season in Europe. The Spurs managed to finish at fourth place on the table, but could now lose out to the Blues if they
emerge victorious against Bayern Munich.
Even though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 is suspended for the fixture, Redknapp revealed he was not hoping for his nephew to be successful against the German giants. According to Redknapp, his loyalties lay only with
Tottenham Hotspur.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“I want Bayern to beat Chelsea, whether Frank plays or not. He knows there's no love lost. My allegiance is Tottenham only. I want Tottenham in the Champions League next year.
What’s best for Tottenham Hotspur in this situation is if Chelsea lose out on the UEFA Champions League, a trophy they have a very good chance of winning. If the Blues lose the final against Bayern Munich then they will not play UEFA Champions League football
next season.
After a highly turbulent season, which saw manager Andre Villas-Boas sacked and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo installed in his place, Chelsea have managed a sixth place finish on the English Premier League table. They will be playing in the Europa League, the second
tier European competition, if Champions League football is not guaranteed.
Redknapp confirmed he was attending the UEFA Champions League final in Munich and regardless of the result, the English manager revealed he was pleased with his side’s achievements in the current season, finishing in the top four.
He continued:
“I was always going to the final. I've been looking forward to it for ages. I'd rather be there than watching it on TV. We can't do any more now, but I couldn't be more pleased with what we've done this season.
If people get carried away with what Tottenham should achieve, they need a reality check.”
