Harry Redknapp reiterates Luka Modric will not be sold – EPL News
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp, has reiterated that the Spurs’ influential midfielder, Luka Modric, will not be sold in this transfer window and has labelled Chelsea’s bid for the Croatian midfield as “farcical”.
Modric was instrumental in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2010/11 season, where Harry Redknapp’s men reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and qualified for the Europa League.
Redknapp believes that Luka Modric is one of the best players in the world and has the all attributes to fit in any club. The Spurs manager wants to keep hold of the Croatian playmaker as he looks to strengthen his squad for the next season.
“We don’t want to sell him [Modric]. He’s up there with the very, very best players in the Premier League and I think he could play in any team in the world, he’s that good. We wouldn’t put a valuation on him. It’s difficult, he’s such a fantastic player.”
Redknapp said.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 has been long linked with a move away from White Hart Lane after Tottenham Hotspur failed to qualify for the next season’s UEFA Champions League, as they finished fifth in the Barclays Premier League standings last season.
The Croatian midfielder was one of the standout performers in the Premier League and has attracted interest from a number of big English clubs including English Champions, Manchester United, and runner-ups, Chelsea.
Barclays Premier League Champions, Manchester United, have reportedly targeted Luka Modric to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-Scholes-c29394, who recently drew curtains on his illustrious career. Moreover, the Red Devils have been lacking creativity in the midfield and Sir Alex Ferguson
sees the 25-year-old as a perfect addition to his title-winning squad.
Chelsea, however, are leading the race for Modric’s signature. The Blues owner, Roman Abramovich, is a huge admirer of the Croatian playmaker and wants the midfielder to partner, and later replace, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 at the Stamford Bridge. The west London club
also made an official offer for Modric only to be tagged ‘farcical’ by Redknapp.
Redknapp said, “I was surprised at the figure, it’s farcical, if they’re going to make an offer, make an offer but £22m for Luka Modric is absolutely ridiculous.”
Modric was one of the sure starters at Tottenham Hotspur last season. The Croatian midfielder scored four goals in 42 appearances for the Spurs.
