Harry Redknapp has come out and made it clear that he has not yet been contacted by the Russian Football Union to take over as the Russian national team manager despite the fact that his name is on the 13-man shortlist that was
released by the RFU yesterday.
Russia have been searching for a suitable candidate to take over their national team following their disastrous display at the European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 over the summer. The 13-man shortlist that was released
by the Russian Football Union contains names such as Redknapp’s along with others of notable fame namely, Pep Guardiola and Fabio Capello.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991’s previous manager d**k Advocaat failed to take the team into the knockout stages of the European Championships despite an encouraging start to the tournament in general. Harry Redknapp told the media, “I haven't been contacted
but I'm sure it's a fantastic job for someone." Redknapp was a favourite to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team job.
However the former Portsmouth manager decided to stay with Tottenham who subsequently dismissed him from his role as the club manager after Spurs failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Eventually Roy Hodgson took over
the England national team http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 but now Redknapp is back on the job market and a venture into international management is not out of order.
It will be interesting to see where Redknapp’s next management job takes him as Russia will definitely offer him a different challenge than to the ones that he is used to in the English Premier League where he has managed a vast
array of clubs from West Ham United to Southampton.
Russian Football Association’s full list of names includes, “Rafael Benitez, Anatoliy Byshovets, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Bielsa, Valery Gazzaev, Josep Guardiola, Fabio Capello, Andrei Kobelev, Yuri Krasnozhan, Marcello Lippi, Valery Nepomnyashchy,
Nikolai Pisarev, Harry Redknapp, Yuri Semin."
