Harry Redknapp says Tottenham Hotspur will not sell key players – EPL news
Tottenham Hotspur boss, Harry Redknapp, has ruled out the sale of any of his key players at the end of the 2010/11 season. He said that the Spurs are very much focused upon improving their game-play, and in spite of speculations, no one would leave the club.
He did mention that Spurs would certainly be recruiting some new players in order to strengthen the squad but ruled out any possibility of the players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 leaving White Hart Lane.
Redknapp seemed optimistic about his team’s chances of finishing in the top four but mentioned that Spurs would fight until the very end in order to repeat the last year’s feat. Tottenham are currently sixth in the League table but are seven points adrift
of the fourth placed Manchester City, which gives them only an outside chance of grabbing the last Champions League spot.
When asked about his future at the club, former Portsmouth manager confirmed that he would stay at White Hart lane. He insisted that both he and the players are focused upon their roles at the club and will face everything that would come their way, whether
its Champions League football or Europa League.
He also hailed the efforts of his boys who enjoyed a bright journey during their Champions League debut. The manager also praised the fans who have really been supportive throughout the season and thanked them for being patient.
Further talking about his team, the 64-year-old added, “When they came here they weren’t in the Champions League, and when I arrived here they weren’t anywhere near Champions League football – they were all here playing. All the players we want to keep here
are on good, long contracts, signed new contracts, so there’s not a possibility of us looking to sell our best players, that my opinion.”
He admitted that teams like Everton and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have improved drastically and reckoned that next year it would be an even harder fight for that Champions League spot.
He concluded by saying, "Next year will be even harder than this year, because Liverpool will be right up there next year,"
Tottenham are sixth in the table with 55 points and will next be in action against Blackpool on Saturday, May 07, at White Hart Lane.
