Harry Redknapp unwilling to sell stars in the summer transfer window – EPL news
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp, has revealed that the club is looking to hang on to its prized assets during the summer transfer window. The Spurs boss was referring in particular to key members of the squad who have recently been linked with
a possible move away from White Hart Lane, including stars like Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rafael-c30339 van der Vaart.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 had been tipped to leave Tottenham back in January, when it emerged that a number of the biggest clubs in Europe were keeping tabs on the Welshman after his sensational performances in UEFA Champions League. Though the initial hype surrounding
Bale has faded somewhat, he is still a much sought-after winger, and a number of Europe’s elites will be keen to get his signature.
However, the Welshman has recently revealed that he has no plans of leaving the club anytime soon. Bale signed a new contract with Spurs not long ago, and he claims that he will stick with Tottenham to grow as a footballer before he considers a move abroad.
Meanwhile, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857’s future was cast into doubt with his recent admission that he would like to continue playing the Champions League. The Croatian international revealed that he is keeping an open mind about a possible transfer, and he might consider
a move should a viable opportunity present itself.
Speaking on the matter, Modric had earlier said, “My club status is the same as it was before. But if an offer comes which is good for Tottenham and for me also, then a transfer is of course possible. That doesn’t mean that I’m bothered with leaving Tottenham."
He added, “But then again, when you experience playing in Champions League, you want to keep playing in this tournament.”
But now, Harry Redknapp has put an end to all speculation by revealing that the club will not be selling any of its stars during the summer months. The Spurs boss said, “All of our key players are under contract. The chairman and I have discussed this and
we have no intention of selling any of them. They are at a top club and we are looking to improve the squad in the summer, not weaken it, in order to push for a Champions League place again next season.”
Tottenham finished the 2010/11 Barclays Premier League campaign in fifth place, losing out the Champions League berth to Manchester City who appear in the competition for the first time in their history.
