Harry Redknapp wants Joe Cole
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he will speak to Joe Cole after the World Cup in an attempt to bring the midfielder to White Hart Lane.
Cole has stated he would decide on his future until after his World Cup campaign with England. The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer from Chelsea, and it was reported that Arsenal were leading the chase to sign the England playmaker.
Redknapp - who worked with Cole during his time at West Ham for three years - has thrown himself into the hat to sign the player. “Yes, I am prepared to declare my interest in Joe Cole. Why not? He is a great player, his contract is up and he is on a free transfer. When he returns I would love to talk to him about coming to Spurs,” said Redknapp.
Redknapp commented last week that Cole had already agreed a deal to sign for someone else and not Tottenham. “It looks to me someone's going to make a great free transfer, if he doesn't stay at Chelsea. I genuinely don't know who that is. I don't think it's going to be Tottenham. I've got a feeling, I may be wrong, that he's already agreed a deal with someone, and it's not Tottenham,” Redknapp said.
If the Tottenham manager can offload David Bentley, Cole would be a much better replacement.
