Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed he is determined to retain the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 but admitted agreeing on the wages would be an issue.
The 28-year-old Manchester City striker was sent out on loan to White Hart Lane at the beginning of the season and has done remarkably well at the club. Adebayor has scored 18 goals in all competitions, along with 11 assists this term.
He has become a crucial part of the Spurs team that finished fourth in the English Premier League this season, even scoring in the last fixture of the season against Fulham. With the season over, Redknapp is looking to the future of the player at the club.
Redknapp said in an interview:
“He was only a loan and his loan is up. It is up to the chairman if we could loan him again. I would like to keep him, obviously. He has done great for us.
But I don't know. We don't pay them wages - the only way we could do a deal was if the chairman did a clever deal like he did this year for him.”
Adebayor joined Manchester City in 2009 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323. While he is currently still registered with the English Premier League champions, the English manager was certain he would be able
to sign the Togolese striker on a more permanent basis.
Tottenham Hotspur were determined to finish at third spot on the English Premier League table, above Arsenal but failed to do so. They will now be waiting for the result of the UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to find out if
they will be playing Champions League football next season.
If Bayern Munich win, then Tottenham Hotspur will get a chance to play in the European competition next term. However, if they fail to do so then Chelsea will not only win the Champions League but also take up Tottenham’s place in Europe.
He revealed:
“At the start of the season we wanted fourth position and I couldn't be more pleased with what the players have done here this year and nor should anyone else.”
