Harry The Viking favourite for Diamond Jubilee National Hunt Chase (Amateur Riders´ Novices´ Chase)
Harry The Viking is rated as favourite for Diamond Jubilee National Hunt Chase (Amateur Riders´ Novices´ Chase) at Cheltenham in England on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The race will start at 1:30 GMT and the winner will be given a cash prize of £44,970.
The going will be good throughout the four mile long track, which will host 20 runners. The entries confirmed for the event are: Harry The Viking, Teaforthree, Soll, Allee Garde, Alfie Spinner, Four Commanders, Universal Soldier, Blenheim Brook, Daffern
Seal, Lively Baron, Strongbows Legend, Iron Chancellor, Our Island, State Benefit, Court Red Handed, Cottage Oak, Ben's Folly, Bob 'N' You, Our Victoria and Leggy Lad.
Out of the above mentioned horses, Harry The Viking has got the most impressive record in chase races. He has just entered a couple of such events, but has maintained a 100 percent winning record.
Paul Nicholls’ trainee has been in terrific form since making debut in the sport, as he has never disappointed his team. His first ever outing was over hurdles, where he managed to secure the runner up spot.
After that, the seven-year-old gelding gained a lot of confidence and ran to four consecutive victories. He might be a touch rusty, as he last race was at Doncaster in December, last year. He had to fight hard for victory in that event, managing to win it
by just a head distance. He made a little mistake in the middle section, but recovered well in the end.
The punters will certainly be encouraged to place maximum number of bets on the bookmakers’ favourite, who will be ridden by W. Biddick, who is relatively new to the sport and will be looking forward to make a name for himself.
Willie Mullins’ trained runner, Allee Garde, will also be the one to watch out for, as he has been in good form recently. He has participated in three chase races, winning one of them and finishing third in the other two.
The seven-year-old gelding is in good shape at the moment, but will need a special effort to win the race. He will be partnered by P. W. Mullins, who has won a single race while chasing.
Teaforthree, Soll, and Alfie Spinner are also decent runners and will have a chance of making an impression at Cheltenham today. However, the rest of the participants will not find it easy to end up in top three.
