how do you think peter pettigrew ended up in gryffindor whilst at hogwarts....do you think he should have been in slytherin

He might have not been that 'slytherin-ish" when he was sorted... also, he was friends with James, Sirius and Lupin.

Come on, Bella...let's cut the Sorting Hat a bit of slack here.  Hogwarts was founded in...well, I don't know, but it was a long, long time ago.  And in all that time, as far as we know, the only time the Hat laid an egg was with Wormtail there.

Would that I botched things so seldomly.

I think the Sorting Hat did sorted right, it's just Peter didn't chose to act as a true Gryffindor.... *the filthy little rat*

im sure it says some where by dumbodore that the hate sorts due to are choices. and in the end he choose to not kill harry knowing that harry had saved him and that  (for the want of a better expresson ) the greater good would triumph

It baffles me how he made it in Gryffindor he is not brave and he is defiantly not loyal. But i don't think he should have been in Slytherin, he is not ambitious or cunning. Actually, he doesnt fit anything, but if i had to choose a house to put him in, it would be Hufflepuff.

Being friends with James and Lily might've helped him out a bit. Some of their gryffindor qualities could've rubbed off on him before he became engulfed by the dark side.

Guess what?? Taking into account your answer in my spanish question, I've asked the same in english so you and other people can answer it. So it seems we have asked the same question almost at the same time.. xD! However, I will answer you here..

I think that Peter hasn't his personality very well defined the moment he entered Hogwarts and was selected by the Sorting Hat to Gryffindor. However, I have to said that at the age of 12 years old is difficult to find someone with a defined personality; so I keep thinking that the legitimacy of Wormtail to join Gryffindor is very doubtful. Besides he was the only Gryffindor to be in the Dark Lord's side.

I have to say that there were some other students that have negative qualities and are actually in Gryffindor; so it's the case of Cormac Mc. Laggen or Romilda Vane. But they were not fond of Dark Arts.. xD!

To sum up.. I don't know why Peter ended up in Gryffindor. That's why I've asked that question..

He might not have been so sleazy when he entered gryffindor. People change over time. Besides, don't think he came from a slytherin lineage.  Oh boy! Listen to me! As if its the real world? Sheesh .. I'm so embarrassed by how much I love the Harry Potter stories!

i actually think he should have been in hufflepuff, because he was not brave, or any of the other characteristics that are often found in gryffindors or slytherins.

Possibly, like harry, he Asked to go into Griffindor ( 'Not Slytherin,' as Harry said).

He needed his friends as a crutch, so wouldn't have gone into gryffindor for the values, rather for having suerior frinds to hide behind.

So, i think he asked the Sorting Hat to go there.
