Harsha Bhogle supports all the three formats of cricket – Cricket News Update
Famous cricket commentator, Harsha Bhogle, is of the opinion that all the three formats of the game of cricket are equally important now and the cricket experts should stop rating Test cricket as the highest form of the game.
Since 1970s, cricket has gradually gone faster and faster because of limited overs version of the sport. Initially, it was the 50-overs format which rocked the world of cricket and since the last five years, T20 cricket has become the most popular format
of the game.
However, people who love the tradition of the game feel that the shortest format of the game is hampering the progress of Test cricket, which they feel is the real form of cricket and no other format can replace it.
However, Harsha is one of very few people who believe that all the three formats of cricket are of same importance. He feels that majority of the people have just made up their mind in a negative way.
Harsha gave the example of the on-going Champions League T20, which has produced some extra-ordinary encounters and high quality of cricket is on display.
“I fear we look at Test cricket and 20-overs with similarly prejudiced eyes. We grade them, we create our own class system, because that is what we were conditioned to do. But over two days in Chennai and Bengaluru, I saw performances that made me sit up
and question this rigid adherence to a hierarchy of skills,” said Harsha.
Former cricket commentator further claimed that he enjoys all the formats of the game. He gave the reference of this year’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and England and the on-going Champions League T20, and said
that all of these events were big hits, even though they belonged to different formats of the game.
He added, “I enjoyed the World Cup, loved seeing the intensity with which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 played Test cricket, and for many reasons have enjoyed watching the Champions League T20. Unlike in a good marriage, you don't have to love only one.”
