Harsheel Dani wins Boy’s Singles crown at 36th Junior National Badminton Championship
India’s passionate shuttler, Harsheel Dani delivered a phenomenal performance and won the Boy’s Singles U17 crown after beating Aditya Joshi in the title match of 36th Junior National Badminton Championship, on Sunday, January 12, in India.
The second seed Harsheel proved his elevated skills in the final clash and overpowered Aditya, who was the top seed in Boy’s Singles draw of the championship. He consumed 61 minutes in the court to register victory over his rival.
On the other hand, Aditya tried his level best to get rid of his lower ranked opponent but failed to control the pace of game in the final set and lost the contest in three games with a decent margin.
In the first set, Harsheel played competitive badminton in opening rallies and remained equal until 4-4. At this stage, he stunned his opponent by playing incredible badminton and scored seven consecutive points to set up an 11-4 lead until the break.
After the break, Aditya geared up his speed and started to reduce the difference. He continued playing positive badminton and managed to level the score at the concluding phase of first game.
The score was 20-20 when Harsheel became quicker in all areas and managed to earn two consecutive points by playing with wonderful aggression and won the set with a 22-20 score on the board.
In the second game, Aditya showed his class by changing his game plan as he played fast badminton and did not let his rival to dictate the pace off rallies anymore. Until the break, he took a striking lead of 11-4.
After the break, Harsheel tried to play aggressive game but failed to trouble his higher ranked challenger. He failed to place his strokes in the gaps and lost the set with a six-point difference of 15-21.
In the decider, Harsheel played well from the starting points and remained successful in getting a five-point advantage by reaching at 11-6.
After the break, Aditya accelerated his speed and managed to put pressure on his lower ranked challenger. He remained on track and levelled the score by reaching at 13-13.
Both shuttlers reached at 17-17 when Harsheel delivered stunning performance and took four consecutive points to end the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
The overall score of this Boy’s Singles rubber-set final contest was 22-20, 15-21 and 21-17.
