Harshit Aggarwal stretches winning run in All India Junior Ranking Tournament – Badminton news
India’s Harshit Aggarwal maintained his winning streak in the Boys’ Singles U19 second round as he played with wonderful precision and outwitted Ansal Yadav at the All India Junior Ranking Tournament 2013 in Hyderabad, on Thursday, June 27.
The impressive Harshit, who stayed focused and aggressive throughout the second round, remained calm and composed in this second round encounter. He easily showed exit to his eighth seeded opponent, Ansal, by taking just 35 minutes in the arena.
Harshit was at his best on court as he played with greater level of confidence and precision. He remained successful in maintaining his domination on court and finished the battle in straight games with a convincing margin of 21-14 and 21-18.
Meanwhile, Ansal failed to find a good start and lost the first game easily. However, he put up strong show in the following game but could not play controlled badminton in ending points and lost the match with a reasonable score on the board.
In the first game, Harshit played planned badminton as he easily judged the weaknesses of his rival by playing a variety of strokes in all areas. He employed attacking lobs and fast drop shots to keep Ansal moving around on court.
The aggressive and positive play of Harshit enabled him to stay on driving seat and he set up a wonderful lead on scoreboard until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Ansal tried to increase his speed but he could not place his shots effectively and remained under pressure all the way.
On the contrary, Harshit progressed in a smooth manner as he did not face any considerable resistance from his opponent and won the game with a huge 21-14 score on the board.
In the following set, Ansal played better badminton as he geared up his speed and gave a tough time to Harshit who could not set up an early lead this time. Until the one-minute break, both shuttlers were close on the scoreboard.
After the interval, Harshit started to pace up rallies as he played with great aggression and remained successful in creating a small lead. He dominated the pace in ending points and managed to bag the set with a tight 21-18 score on the board.
