Hartani’s record waiting for a straight second graded posting through the Gain Horse Feeds Irish St Leger Trial Stakes
The most promising candidate in the field of the Group 3 Gain Horse Feeds Irish St Leger Trial Stakes is the three-year-old grey colt, Hartani. He will be confronted by four other contestants who are three-year-old and above. They will race over a mile and six furlongs on Saturday, 25th August at Curragh for trying their luck with the €37,375 prize money.
The three-year-old son of Shirocco is lightly raced and lost just once through the four career outings. He missed his first chance at clearing the maiden on 22nd April, 2012 in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 3YO Maiden at Curragh over a mile and two furlongs.
The race was won by, Aklan.
The John M. Oxx trained made the most out of the very next race winning the Tipperaryraces.ie 3YO Maiden by half a length on 3rd May, 2012 at Tipperary over a mile and 4 ½ furlongs. He won the race in partnership with, Johnny Murtagh and set the favourite entry, Offer, second.
Hartani’s next stop was in the Follow @Tipperaryraces On Twitter 3Yo Race on 24th May, 2012 at Tipperary over a mile and 4 ½ furlongs. Entered as the favourite entry and accompanied by the same rider, the three-year-old became somewhat prominent only towards the straight and then went head on two furlongs out. He raced smartly inside the final furlong setting Montebell as the runner-up by the loss of 1 ½ lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position was, China One.
Two successes after clearing the maiden got the Irish grey colt out of, Harsiya, an entry in his first graded race that he instantly snapped on.
He won the Group 3 At The Races Curragh Cup on 1st July, 2012 at Curragh over a mile and six furlongs. He raced second initially but was pulled down to the sixth position six furlongs out. He then progressed and closed in over two furlongs out and ran confidently inside the final furlong winning the race by the margin of 5 ½ lengths.
The three-year-old will become the mount for jockey, Pat Smullen today and the duo has drawn the second gate to race from.
