Haruka Ueda claims Women’s 100m freestyle gold: Day five - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Haruka Ueda claimed the title of Women’s 100m freestyle on fifth day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, April 6.
Ueda served notice of her talent by proving her mettle for the top position of the discipline. With her impeccable efforts, she stayed nearly one body length faster from her following swimmer and cemented her place on the victory stand for gold medal.
Ueda stayed considerably ahead of her immediate competitor and occupied gold medal of the discipline by posting a time of 54.00 seconds. Her scintillating effort remained 0.80 seconds ahead of Yayoi Matsumoto, who proved her eligibility for second position
of the discipline by ending her race in a time of 54.80 seconds.
Matsumoto was followed by Miki Uchida, who stunned the aquatic crowd with her invincible efforts in the two-lap event. Matsumoto remained 0.28 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with a third finest time of 55.08 seconds.
Uchida was followed by Hanae Itou, who stayed just 0.02 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end as fourth best swimmer by posting a time of 55.10 seconds.
The fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Natsuki Hasegawa, who was almost two strokes slower and transpired on the wall with the timing of 55.21 seconds.
Hasegawa was trailed by Misaki Yamaguchi, who remained 0.31 seconds slower from her and occupied sixth best position of the 100m event by touching the wall with the timing of 55.52 seconds.
Yamaguchi was followed by Mao Kawakami, who remained 0.11 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and completed her race in a time of 55.61 seconds for seventh position.
Kawakami was followed by Tomoko Hagiwara, who stayed 0.17 seconds slower from her former finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 55.78 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, the arena enjoyed remarkable struggles of all participants in the 100m discipline whereas the session ended after the conclusion of all planned events.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their blistering performances at the medal distribution ceremony of the championship.
