Haruka Ueda claims Women’s 200m freestyle gold: Day three - Tatsumi International Pool, Tokyo
Haruka Ueda claimed gold medal of the Women’s 200m freestyle on third day of the Tatsumi International Pool in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, April 4.
Haruka dictated terms to her challengers from the beginning of the race and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal.
With her immaculate efforts in the four-lap freestyle event, she cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 57.41 seconds. The championship remained just 0.04 seconds slower from the national mark of 1 minute
and 57.37 seconds.
The gold medallist remained almost 0.70 seconds faster from her following swimmer, Hanae Itou, who settled on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 58.13 seconds.
The second position holder remained 1.31 seconds ahead of Yayoi Matsumoto, who seized bronze medal of the event by completing her swim in a time of 1 minute and 59.44 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Aya Takano, who remained just 0.02 seconds behind and transpired on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by posting a time of 1 minute and 59.46 seconds.
She was followed by Chihiro Igarashi, who remained nearly 0.30 seconds apart and reached the finishing blockade for fifth position by clocking a time of 1 minute and 59.73 seconds.
The sixth position of the event was obtained by Mari Sumiyoshi, who was about one second slower from her former finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 00.67 seconds.
She was trailed by Yasuko Miyamoto, who remained nearly two strokes behind and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 00.92 seconds.
The last spot of the 200m event was obtained by Misaki Yamaguchi, who remained almost half a body length behind her former finisher and emerged on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 01.40 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the session completed after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders were invited on the victory stand for their exhausting efforts at the medal ceremony of the championship after the session.
