Haruki Washio snares Boys 200m freestyle gold – 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet
Haruki Washio of Itoman snared gold medal of the boys 200m freestyle on day two of the 2012 NCSA/Itoman Allstar Meet at the Golden West Swim Club in Golden West College on Saturday, September 22.
Washio went full rampant in the four-lap freestyle event and proved his supremacy for the crown. He gained a comfortable lead over his opponents from the start and paved his way to the finishing wall for the title.
He showed no mercy to his opponents in the 200m discipline and stepped on the medal rostrum for gold medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 52.60 seconds.
His gold claiming effort remained 0.76 seconds ahead of Ryan Kao of NCSA, who followed him on the finishing blockade as second position holder by submitting a time of 1 minute and 53.36 seconds.
Kao was chased by Takashi Omoto of Itoman, who remained 0.45 seconds apart and completed the podium by finishing third in the race with an effort of 1 minute and 53.81 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Taisei Wada of Itoman, who remained 1.19 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer with a timing of 1 minute and 55.00 seconds.
Wada was chased by Chris Grimmett-Norris of NCSA, who stayed 2.33 seconds behind and finished fifth in the event by producing an effort of 1 minute and 57.33 seconds.
Grimmett-Norris was trailed by Robert S McHugh of NCSA, who stayed 0.39 seconds away from his former finisher and made his way to the finishing wall as sixth best finisher with a timing of 1 minute and 57.72 seconds.
Seventh best place of the race was obtained by Evan G Rude of NCSA, who was one and a half body length behind and completed his swim in a time of 1 minute and 59.10 seconds.
Reo Sakata of Itoman, who was the top contender for gold medal, could not live up to the expectations of his supporters as he was disqualified from the race.
In addition, Washio was overjoyed with his effort and collected medal after the event.
