Harvest Moon: AWL (GC) - How come my son isn't growing?

Question

This may sound silly but, I'm already in Spring 5 but my son is still a toddler. I know when you're already in chapter 3 your son should be a kid already and can speak more clearly and fluently. Why is this so? Did I do something wrong. Or will it grow sometime between Summer to Winter? Please HELP!!!

I remember playing that game, but I couldn't get over the fact that he runs as if he has a stick up his butt. I didn't even know the son grows up in that game. Me and my friends just kept making him go to sleep cause we got bored and then he grew old and died.  I think he should grow around the opposite season i'm which he was born, after a year of growth. That's what happened on my second game file
