With the exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 Stadium B Ground in Motera, Ahmedabad, with the visitors maintaining
a 305 run-lead, with 10 wickets remaining, by stumps on day 3 (November 10).
The match had kicked off on November 8, with the England XI winning the toss and deciding to bat first. The top and middle order put in solid performances, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 remaining the most remarkable – the right-hander smashed 110 off 94 before retiring
hurt. His efforts were bolstered by those of opener and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Prior-c1984 (41).
On day 2, the England XI found themselves all out at 521, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mishra-c871 (17.1-1-67-4) and Jayant Yadav (23-3-110-4) remaining the stand-out bowlers. During the domestic team’s turn at bat on day 2, Sunny Singh (55) remained among the top performers
on day 2 – however, he, along with opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sachin-Rana-c87801 (7), were all sent packing, with Haryana finishing the day at 172 for 4, with Dewan (77*) and Sandeep Singh (2*) at the crease.
The third day saw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sandeep-Singh-c2435 dismissed on 5 – however, Dewan went on to bring his tally up to an impressive 143*, and served as an effective anchor throughout the innings. Unfortunately none of the remaining batsmen, save Chanderpal Saini (35) were able
to serve as effective partners for Dewan, and faced with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samit-Patel-c2426 (16-4-39-2), Haryana were all out at 334.
The England XI stepped up for their second turn at bat, and openers Nick Compton (54*) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576 (61*) got the team off to a steady start, contributing half-tons and setting up an as yet unbeaten partnership. By stumps on day 3, the England XI finished
at 118 for 0, with Haryana having failed to make any dents in the line-up as yet.
