Has America become an "entitlement" society?

I believe it has; I see it all too frequently where folks/families believe they "deserve" a government service simply because they have a "want" (not necessarily a "need"). What happened to JFK's speech... "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country!" ??? How will this phenomenon be affected/effected by the two Presidential candidates?

  1. Sure. McCain thinks being a POW entitles him to be President.

There are lots of former POW's.  Why him?

  2. Part of the problem besides the number of people who expect welfare,  is that government regulations encourage it. Instead of giving a smaller benefit to low income workers,  they make it more worthwhile to not work at all. This may be intentional, since a dependent populace is more easily controlled, and people who are independent are being regulated to death and told that we need to have a national ID card to "protect" us from terrorists.  Remember how the n***s asked for papers from anyone traveling?  That's where we are headed thanks to the Dept. of Homeland Security.

  3. Only the 47% voting for Obama

You see, liberals despise individual prosperity, private property ownership, and the family. Private property and individual wealth is integral to individualism, and the enemy of the liberal. Liberals believe that wealth is static - anyone who makes money must be stealing it from someone else. Liberals dream of a return to a centralized, 1940's urban environment. We all ride the bus from a small, dirty, big city apartment to an 8-5 union job. Yet, the liberal typically chooses a career which produces nothing of value - lawyer, bureaucrat, "activist", etc. - and uses government to extract the wealth of others

  4. I have friend who works at the post office.  On welfare check day they all show up demanding "Where my welfare.  Gimme my welfare."  As she hands each of the their check she tells the off and says "Get a job"

Nobody has a right to live on the forced labor of others, and that is all this has become.  It's not charity.  It's not an investment in the betterment of others.  It is just a robbery, cloaked in respectability.

  5. It was Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" that served as the impetus for this entitlement mentality that has our nation in a death-grip. It's like 20 somethings who graduate from college with a Business degree and think to themselves "So, when do I become CEO and Vice President of GM Corporation?"

I have met these types on many occasions, and it is nauseating. Worse, yet, these same punks have 0 respect or loyalty for America and its Constitutional principles so many who came before have fought and died for to ensure that tyranny never made it to our shores.

The whole mentality is just pathetic.

  6. Yup, coporate CEO's are definitely entitled to raid the pensions of workers for their golden parachutes after they creatively crash and burn the companies.

    So yes, I agree.

And everyone is entitled to a gun.

    So yes, I agree.

And we are are entitled to own gas guzzling cars and disregard the environment.

You are so very right. But possibly not in the way you intend to be.

  7. Obama is the poster boy for entitlements.  His newest scam is taxpayer-funded college “scholarships.”  Best described as welfare wearing a cap and gown, this proposed “benefit” will produce no scholars, but will create many left-wing zealots.  We, the taxpayers, will be expected to pay to “educate” these zealots who are and will be trained to disregard us and discard our ideals.

We should not sit idly by and permit far-left liberals to convert our institutions of higher learning into propaganda factories.  There is a difference between education and indoctrination, and we are seeing far more of the latter than the former.

Why do our institutions of higher “learning” lean so heavily to the left?  Why do our colleges produce so many graduates who cannot write a decent memo but can offer profound insights into communist doctrine?

Why do so many impressionable young people think communism is better than capitalism even though every communist state in the history of the world has created a privileged class that would be the envy of the most greedy and selfish capitalist.

Is North Korea’s Kim Jong-il, who dines on lobster and drinks fine wine while his “people” eat grass, truly a “man of the people?”  Is Russia’s  Vladimir Putin, who vacations in a dachau on the Black Sea while his “people” scrimp to pay for their children’s shoes, a “man of the people?”  Is China’s Hu Jintao, who lives a life of luxury while his “people” labor for slave wages, a “man of the people?”

It defies logic that people can admire a system that has created some of the world’s worst tyrants and can avoid even looking at who those tyrants are and what they have done.  The admirers are not educated.  They are indoctrinated.  And this is NOT a coincidence.
