  1. you have to be careful. try firstgov.com for the federal websites.. to check. your states official website is also a good bet. there are many grants available for many purposes in varying amounts. eg: for education, there are the pell grants like tap, tuition assistance program, and beog, basic edication opportunity grant. they're real and free,. i've used them for college, along with the california state tuition grants for california  state university students. cal resid' req. these are real- no money required. those that ask for any money are phoneys.

  2. Watch out for those online grants.  There are hundreds of grants you can access. Just type into your browser the type of grant you want and you'll get lots of choices/

  3. Ah, it depends what you mean by "free government grant".

If you mean "I filled out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Assistance) and the financial aid office at my school sent me a financial aid award letter that includes something called a Pell Grant, is this legitimate?", then the answer is absolutely yes.

If you mean "I found some website online that promises to provide me with free information about "free government grants", is this legitimate?", the the answer is absolutely "no".

Any "free government grants" come directly from the US Department of Education and are offered to you directly by your college's financial aid department. The only way to qualify is to fill out the FAFSA form. If you've heard about this "free government grant" from anyone other than the financial aid office, then this "grant" is a scam.

    Fair enough?
