If so how did you like it? As for me I am on my way back to California. Regardly, they say that it is cheaper here but I say you get what you pay for. It's really not all that cheap with the high utilities and all. I calculate it to equal the same amount I'd pay in California in a decent neighborhood. My mortgage here in Texas in 1065 but pay about 3500 a month with everything included. My uncles house in california is 2200 a month and pay 3500 a month including the fee for the gardener. That sucks and on top of that the weather is horrible and they don't even wash their hands when they come out of the bathroom and they don't have toilet seat covers. The country SUCKS!!!

  1. Yes.

I did it in 1989 to attend graduate school in Fort Worth (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary). For a full time student with a family, living conditions were about the same as they were in Riverside, where I attended California Baptist College. My on campus apartment rent was much cheaper in Texas than an on campus apartment in California. But for the sorts of jobs a student works, minimum wage in California is considerably higher than in other states. In California, most places I worked paid me much higher than minimum wage. In Texas, most menial jobs paid the national minimum wage.

After my first year there, things started looking up. Before I finished my degree, I was told about a position back home in California. I thought I missed California. But I had worked in the Fort Worth Independent School District administration office as a language translator during my summer break. They appreciated my work there and I loved it.

A few days after my graduation, the school district sent me a job offer for a high paying administrative job. By the time the notice was forwarded to me in California (two weeks later), it was too late to tell them that I'd take the job. And I would have taken it.
