Has Anyone Else had this Feeling about a Place?

I visited a city that i had never been to before and felt a strange connection with it. i felt as though i cared deeply for someone there but i have no friends or family that live there. does anyone know what this sense of familiarity is? has this happened to anyone else?

It's called a prophetic dream.  You had a dream at some point or another that included this place. You then forgot about it until you went there for the first time.  It happens to everybody at some point or another, several times throughout your life.

There are two possible explainations for this feeling.  The first is the possibility that there is enough similarities to another town that you are familiar with.

The second is that you had a past life in this town and recognize the place and remember the people that you loved and grew up with.

yeah i started having dreams like that last year its a great big city like new york but on one side of the city there are these giant totem poles

and the money system is different there

the water there was crystal blue

felt the same way there was someone there waiting for me

my friend said she had a similar dream about totem poles

she thinks its zion..but idk where ever this place is

it feels very real

I agree with the previous answers.  It sounds like a past life connection.  I often get those feelings as well.  Sometimes it feels like deja vu to me, when it seems familiar like I've already been there. I understand the feeling.  But also you could have what is called precognitive, which is when you can receive information about future events, you can get this information in a variety of ways.  Feelings, pictures in your mind, visions, ..dreams.  So perhaps you have a future connection to this place as well.
