My high school diploma is from Penn Foster high school. I am trying to join the US Army. I took my diploma to my recruiter and he said he will have to look into it. I was just curious if anyone has joined a branch of the military with a diploma from penn foster high school online.

I did check the accreditation of it, the school is accredited.

  1. According to the official Penn Foster website, "All Penn Foster programs are affiliated with DANTES, which qualifies U.S. military personnel for tuition reimbursement."

    and

"Many Penn Foster programs are approved for U.S. Armed Forces veterans education benefits. Reservists may also qualify for veterans education benefits. Check your local or regional VA office for eligibility requirements. Click here for more information."

  2. I don't know, but I was wondering about online degrees and even about kids who were homeschooled if that was going to fly.

  3. If the high school is not in the area of your recruiter, than MEPS might not recognize it.  All they have to do is send up a request to have the school validated.  For the navy this takes about a day or so, but usually its a pretty easy thing to get approved.  Good Luck!
