Has Anyone know where is best to ask for donations fo a raffle?

Hi Im raising money for MeDiCT(www.medict.co.uk ) and we are having an event, we want to make a raffle to raise a bit more, but we are wondering if someone knows where is best to ask for donations (a dinner in a good restaurant, a night in a hotel, electronic gadgets, spa days, you name it) and how (if better by letter, or just turning up...)please, help me in this one, I really want to raise money for this charity as is really changing lifes.   1. You need to go in person and you need to go when the manager is in because no one else can help you.  Bring some form of ID showing you are legit and really do represent that organization.  Stay close to home.  By that I mean in the neighborhood of the school, church, organization you represent.  Dress appropriately and  be polite even if they turn you down, and if they do make a donation send a note of thanks the next day. Go to every single establishment  I've gotten  donations from restaurants, hair salons, tire stores, discount stores, garden centers, movie theaters, drug stores, grocery stores, pet stores, toy stores.  Good luck.


  2. In person, visit local businesses, be prepared to answer all questions concerning the charity.  Most businesses want a written receipt for tax purposes.  Make sure you bring the means to do that, including the charity's tax exempt number.
