Years ago it was notorious for not recognising trade unions - don't know what the current situation is.

The union for shop staff is USDAW.legally they cannot stop you from joining a trade union. Ask you colleagues (discreetly) if they pay Trade Union fees, just out of interest, so to speak. If you want /need to join a union mate join Unison no one can stop you joining a union its your right.

I think you pay about £7.00 a month which comes straight out of your wages.

Just ring one of the directory enquiries numbers and ask for the local office nearest to you.

they campaign for keeping sundays fair working hours etc.
